The
financial industry in all its forms – and those businesses
dependent on it – is the single largest business activity in
Toronto
and it is centered in our downtown core.
A visiting planner
from
New York City
– when asked to comment
on our waterfront – responded that we had something he wished
New York
had: a downtown airport.
I have strongly supported the island airport and a bridge or an
underground pedestrian tunnel to it.
The future vitality of our downtown business community will be
dependent on the ability of its members – and those of the
cities within a 1000 mile radius – to get in and out of the
city core quickly and conveniently.
