With 50% of Toronto ’s residents living as tenants in apartment buildings – many of them in substandard condition – I supported new policies that put more resources into inspecting and serving notices of violations to lazy landlords. City Councillors were asked to choose five buildings in their wards, so I chose five buildings in Ward 40, that I thought should be inspected in ’09 and ’10.

I’m also working with the landlord’s association to help landlords create standards that will help them work with the City in repairing sub-standard buildings and keeping attractive buildings in good repair.
