Scarborough

Scarborough is named after a City in England that enjoys the same impressive, high waterfront bluffs that we have.

It existed as a separate jurisdiction for 200 years before being merged with 6 other governments into the amalgamated City of
Toronto .

Interestingly, “ Scarborough ” is the only previous municipality that displays the same boundaries today as before amalgamation, though in the City’s 4 district administration model it’s known as the East District.

Scarborough is a huge place. It’s approximately 1/3 of the land mass of Toronto and ¼ of its population.

It was a great place in which to grow up.

I had the honour and pleasure of playing on teams carrying
Scarborough ’s name in Baseball and hockey (we won the Toronto wide Bantam Championship!!).

We have a wide variety of residential neighbourhoods ranging from social housing up to high end million dollar houses, most of it cleaner and more attractive than that of other former municipalities in the amalgamated City.

We’re the safest part of
Toronto . And we’re greener that the rest of the city, with the longest shoreline and the country’s only urban national park. Eat you heart out, non Scarborites!!

I’m proud to represent Scarborough not only at City Hall but also across Canada and throughout the world.

I hope you are, too.
