A
Councillor’s Job
Being a City
Councillor is one of those busy 24/7 jobs.
A visiting primary school student on a city hall tour once asked
me what I spent most of my time doing. Upon reflection, I
replied: “
Reading
”.
|
Besides
sitting on Council, I sit on 13 agencies, boards, and
commissions. As a result, as you can see by the photo, I
do a lot of reading.
Every month, I’m called on to vote on 100’s of items
from the biggest to the smallest. Over 12 months, I will
have reviewed and voted on thousands of issues.
I try to cast an informed vote.
I listen closely to my constituents.
I seek out the opinion of people more expert than myself.
And I draw on my own veteran experience.
Here’s a sampling of the major challenges faced by
Councillors at City Hall and my responses to them.

Commissioner
of Oaths: Job #2
Looking to change
your name in whole or in part?
Have to fill out a form for insurance or government purposes?
I’m not a Notary Public but for any form that needs the
confirmation of a Commissioner of Oaths call me and I’ll
arrange a meeting at which I’ll review the form and sign it
and stamp it.
